I tend to pack a lot into my life, so I try to take time out to relax and unwind. Disappearing into the countryside on my mountain bike usually does the trick!

But I make time when others need some help

What sort of person?
 

In whatever I do, I’m generally passionate and enthusiastic. I’m also quite analytical and I like to have a vision for what can be achieved, preferably one that’s ambitious and stretching but also realistic. And I like having a plan to get there!

My wife Carolyn would describe me as a bit of a romantic, who throws himself into things, but who loves poetry and music and just enjoying her company.

Our two grown up children,  Paul and Naomi,  would probably reflect on the energy I put into things, while remembering some of the adventures we’ve had and the family traditions we’ve evolved with over the years.

Our three year old granddaughter Lucy, would probably say that Grandpa Alan just loves to play!

There’s a lot of different sides to my personality. The vision for change blends with compassion; the entertainer is blended with a person of deep faith and conviction. The romantic is part of the pragmatist
